World Day Against Trafficking in Persons is officially recognized by the United Nations (UN) on July 30 each year. Human trafficking refers to enslaving people through the use of fraud or coercion, and millions people become victims of human trafficking each year. People of all ages, genders, and races are trafficked, but children ages eleven to fourteen are most at risk, and 70 percent of the victims are women and girls.
